2019 Concert: “Cantar i Zingen: Aviva Chernick Ensemble and Friends”

Description

Best known as a Ladino singer on her own and with her former Juno Award-nominated world music ensemble Jaffa Road, Aviva Chernick has begun incorporating Yiddish song into her repertoire. I find a different part of myself when I sing in Yiddish, lighter in a way, more down to earth and frank, says Aviva. This is a nice combination with the lushness and heartbreak of the Ladino folk songs. Aviva makes her Yidstock debut with her Toronto-based band plus a little help from some Yidstock All-Stars.
